Brisbane Shockwave Therapy at All Care Physiotherapy
Do you have pain related to your tendon, muscle or bone? Then read on to find out how shockwave can help you like it has to hundreds of our clients.
Shockwave therapy is an effective treatment solution to treat tendon and musculoskeletal injuries in a faster timeframe for healing and pain relief. Even more important is that shockwave is safe, non-invasive and doesn’t require surgery.
Treatment with our shockwave has transformed the timeframes of our clients receiving relief from pain and improved the length of recovery time from injury. You will notice an improvement in symptoms almost immediately after treatment and continue in the days after treatment.
Shockwave therapy has been proven in many clinical trials where its medical terminology is Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy (ESWT). See references below.
How Does Shockwave Work?
Firstly, the good news is there are no electrical shocks involved! Shockwave therapy is produced from a pneumatically powered special handpiece that generates radial shockwaves to the site of the injury via a conduction gel. The handpiece contains a piston that is driven up and down and when it contacts the specialised head it transmits a radial shockwave into the damaged tissue. The benefits you will receive from shockwave include:
- Pain reduction by dampening down the pain receptors via reduction in a pain neurotransmitter substance P.
- Stimulation of collagen production which helps tendons, muscles and other soft tissue structures to heal
- Formation of new blood vessels into the area to promote healing via increased oxygenation
- Helps break up build up of calcium in tendons (e.g. Rotator Cuff Calcific Tendinitis)
- Continued effects of healing well after the course of treatmenthas finished
